ye liveliest spoookiness

So the awesome folks over in the Hassell & Hall Facebook Group have been recording themselves telling scary stories for Halloween and, since my blog is getting a bit full of passionate genre polemic, I thought I’d join in.

I’ve chosen to read HP Lovecraft’s The Outsider because it’s kind of a classic (and also it’s neither racist nor, as far as I’m aware, cough, in copyright). Also such a lot of Lovecraft-inspired stuff sneaks into my stuff that it seems only fair to give the guy some kind of tribute.

Fair warning, this is a full length short story so you’ve got about fifteen solid minutes of me firing adjectives at you like a Gatling gun. Hope you enjoy it. The, uh, story I mean. Not the Gatling gun.

And, finally, as bonus … here is the same story with all the adjectives replaced by the word spooky. Which I personally found hilarious. Your mileage may vary. I was intending only to do a sample but … I got carried away and re-did the whole thing.

Happy Halloween!
